Chap Shuffle adds a compact queue directly to the YouTube player, then randomizes and auto-advances through chapters like tracks on an album. It is built for soundtracks, long-form mixes, study sessions, compilations, and anything where the chapters stand on their own.

Chap Shuffle is a Chrome extension that shuffles YouTube video chapters for a randomized viewing experience. This policy describes how the extension handles your data. Last updated: June 11, 2026.
Optional usage analytics
Chap Shuffle asks for your consent before sending usage analytics to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Analytics are off by default and can be turned off again at any time in the extension popup.
When you opt in, Chap Shuffle collects:
- A randomly generated, pseudonymous installation ID and temporary analytics session ID
- The installed extension version
- Feature interactions such as reshuffling, queue reordering, exclusions, looping, and chapter completion or skipping
- Coarse playback activity, queue positions and lengths, excluded chapter counts, and session-ending reasons
- Standard network and device information received by Google when an analytics request is made, such as IP address and browser user agent
Chap Shuffle does not collect or send:
- YouTube video IDs, titles, URLs, channel names, or chapter names
- Your name, email address, Google or YouTube account identity, or advertising ID
- Your general browsing history or activity on pages other than Chap Shuffle controls
- Page content, comments, searches, or form entries
The installation ID identifies an extension installation, not a known person, but it is pseudonymous rather than anonymous because events from the same installation can be associated over time. Analytics are used only to understand aggregate product usage and improve Chap Shuffle. Advertising features and Google Signals are disabled.
Analytics sharing and retention
Opt-in analytics are sent to Google Analytics, a service provided by Google. Google processes this data on Chap Shuffle's behalf under its analytics terms. Chap Shuffle does not sell analytics data or use it for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking. Analytics data is configured to use GA4's shortest useful retention period.
Turning analytics off stops new events and deletes the pseudonymous installation ID from Chrome local storage. Data already sent to GA4 remains subject to the configured retention period.
Local storage
The extension saves your preferences (shuffle enabled, minimum chapters, queue end
behavior, and analytics consent) using Chrome's built-in
chrome.storage.sync API. Chrome may sync these preferences across your
signed-in Chrome profile. If analytics are enabled, the pseudonymous installation ID is
stored in chrome.storage.local and is not synced by Chap Shuffle.
Permissions
Chap Shuffle requests the following permissions:
- storage — to save your extension preferences
- youtube.com access — to inject the shuffle controls into the YouTube player
- google-analytics.com access — to send optional analytics after consent
